Although Ben was teaching, competing and training riders in Pony Clubs and privatly he wanted to further his teaching qualifications. Then, in 2006 Ben was awarded a Scholarship from the ABRS and so began training for his Intermediate Instructors Certificate, passing his Stage 4 Stable Management in July 2006, Stage 4 Riding in October 2006, completing the qualification by passing the Intermediate Teach in April 2007.

Now, back in the way of training, Ben continued studing  and in October 2007, Ben passed the BHS Stable Manager’s Exam  and in August 2008 the Senior Teaching certificate. In the summer of 2008, Ben also  enjoyed the opportunity to compete in a few  British Eventing Pre-Novice events.

In August 2009, Ben passed the Senior Equitation exam to complete his BHSI.

In March 2010, Ben became an Accredited Coach with British Eventing.

 

Ben is still continuing his  training so he remains up to date with the best techniques to develop the horses and riders for the competitions.

Ben Leathers has been riding all his life and has achieved numerous successes at many top level competitions in both England and Australia. In the early 80’s he was one of the top young riders in the Agricultural shows winning several Champion Rider classes and competed at the Royal Melbourne Showin 1984. He moved over to England in 1985 with the family and continued his interest with the Chiddingfold branch of the Pony Club.
In September 1998 Ben joined Wellington Riding as a Working Pupil on the competition yard and there he qualified as a BHSAI. In May 1989, he had a short job in Forest of Dean, training Show Jumpers. In September 1989 he worked on a livery yard until, he was spotted to ride for Lynn Russell Bailey’s Horse Feeds Team in March 1992. After two seasons competing on the County Show circuit he was offered to help set up an equestrian centre. In September 1993 he took it on and helped it grow into Wishanger Equestrian Centre in Frensham. Whislt there he also competed at Affiliated Dressage in Novice and Elementary, qualifying him to compete at Hickstead Nationals.
In 1997 Ben become a freelance instructor,  registered with the B.H.S., where he has trained Cowdray PC and Chiddingfold Farmers PC Dressage teams as well as riders to Intermediate eventing and Medium Dressage. Ben continues to teach and train clients around West Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire.
